The experience

A mobile investing experience localized for the Kenyan market.

Honey Badger demonstrates how a mobile investment product can combine local funding habits with access to fractional shares of US-listed companies.

Designed for retail investors in Kenya, the experience brings together onboarding, jurisdiction-aware KYC, funding, stock discovery, trade execution, and portfolio management — while keeping the underlying provider stack adaptable to another market.

01

Localize an investment journey around regional payment behavior

02

Make fractional investing understandable on a mobile screen

03

Connect identity, funding, brokerage, and portfolio workflows

Suggested walkthrough

A guided path through the strongest moments.

10 min
01

Install and create a demo investor

Open the TestFlight invitation, install Honey Badger, choose Sign Up, and enter a fictional first name, last name, and unique demo email.

The app creates a demo profile without using real customer information.
02

Confirm access and open the portfolio

Use the shared passcode 123456. The initial portfolio opens with no positions and no available cash.

You start from the same clean state as a new retail investor.
03

Review KYC and fund the account

Walk through the identity and residency-verification screens without submitting real documents, then add a simulated $50 balance through the prepared funding flow.

The portfolio receives fictional cash ready for the investment scenario.
04

Discover and buy fractional shares

Open Investor, search or browse the stock carousel, review a company page, and place prepared fractional purchases such as $0.67 of Google and $20 of Apple.

The positions appear in the portfolio with updated cash and investment balances.
05

Manage the portfolio

Review Overall, Cash, and Investment balances, sell part or all of a position, and open Transaction History.

You experience the complete cycle from funding to investing and liquidity.

Built to adapt

One market-specific product. A reusable delivery approach.

The reference experience was shaped around Kenya. Its provider and operational layers can be selected around another jurisdiction, customer segment, and launch model.

01

Local funding

The reference implementation used M-Pesa for top-up and withdrawal. The funding layer can be adapted to the payment methods preferred in another market.

02

Brokerage and market data

Stock discovery, company data, fractional orders, and portfolio positions were designed around a replaceable brokerage integration.

03

Jurisdiction-aware onboarding

Identity and residency checks can be configured around local regulation, required documents, and the selected KYC provider.

04

Operational control

A supporting admin workspace can cover account exceptions, transaction review, support workflows, and controlled operational actions.
